TWO days before the May 12, 2025, national and local elections, Presidential Communication Office (PCO) Secretary Jay Ruiz echoed President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s call for voters to select leaders with integrity, competence, and compassion.
Through Proclamation 878, President Marcos has declared May 12 a special non-working holiday to allow registered voters to participate in the national and local elections.
“Gamitin natin ang karapatang ito. Piliin natin ang kandidatong may malasakit, kakayahan, at may paninindigan. Sa tamang pagpili, sama-sama natin bubuuin ang Bagong Pilipinas,” President Marcos said.
The PCO Secretary assured the public that government agencies are closely collaborating to ensure that the May 12 midterm elections will be honest, orderly, and peaceful.
“Government agencies are working hard to ensure honest, orderly, and peaceful elections,” said the PCO Secretary, whose mission is to provide accurate information, education, and communications materials on government initiatives in partnership with key stakeholders.
He emphasized that credible elections are essential in building a digitally empowered democracy where transparency and trust are upheld.
Ruiz witnessed the launch on Friday of the “Task Force KKK sa Halalan” Threat Monitoring Center at the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) Office in Diliman, Quezon City.
The new facility houses interagency analysts from different government agencies that gather reports of online disinformation and other election violations under Comelec Resolution 1164 for investigation and immediate action.
