DESPITE his detention by the International Criminal Court (ICC), former President Rodrigo Duterte was elected as mayor of Davao City, his home city, by a landslide.

According to unofficial results from the election commission published by local media, with more than 60% of returns in, Duterte had an insurmountable lead of 405,000 votes – far ahead of his nearest competitor who trailed on 49,000,
His youngest son, Sebastian, the incumbent mayor of Davao, was declared Davao vice mayor while his eldest son, Paolo, was reelected as a member of the House of Representatives in his third and final term.
Paolo’s sons, Omar and Rodrigo, won as 2nd district representative and first district councilor, respectively.
The former president was arrested and flown to The Hague in The Nehterlands in March over his alleged bloody war on drugs.
