OPERATIVES of the Philippine National Police-Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) on Tuesday raided a suspected scam hub in Antipolo City.
Arrested were 70 employees and a minor.
According to PNP-ACG director Brig. Gen. Bernard Yang, raided was an investment scheme office in Bgy. San Roque in Antipolo City.
The raid was conducted on the strength of a warrant to search, seize and examine computer data issued by a local court against the office owner identified only as alias “Arthur.”
The case stemmed from a violation of Republic Act 8799 or the Securities Regulations Code in relation to Section 6 of RA 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
The raid was conducted by members of the PNP-ACG, in coordination with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Rizal Police Provincial Office, and the Antipolo City Police Station following months of surveillance.
Yang said the office had been under surveillance by the PNP-ACG Cyber Response Unit since 2024 following a report from an Australian national, represented by IFW Global, regarding an investment scheme that targeted and victimized foreign nationals.
The official said that during the operation, 70 employees and one minor were found present in the office.
“Currently, digital forensic examinations on their computers are still ongoing to gather digital evidence for violation of RA No. 8799,” the ACG said.
“This successful operation is a testament to the PNP-ACG’s commitment to protecting the public against online fraud and exploitation,” said Yang
“To those who engage in such illegal activities, let this operation be a strong warning to you: We will not stop until you are caught and brought to justice,” the official added.
