FORMER Negros Oriental 3rd district Rep. Arnolfo “Arnie” Teves Jr. arrived in the Philippines from Timor Leste on Thursday night following his arrest on Tuesday by immigration officers in Timor-Leste where he sought asylum.
The expelled lawmaker, who was tagged as the alleged mastermind in the March 2023 killing of then-Negros Oriental governor Roel Degamo and nine others, is back in the Philippines after being deported from Timor-Leste.
Teves’ hands were handcuffed and his feet were shackled. He was accompanied by authorities to the Philippine Air Force (PAF) plane.
The former solon has been read his Miranda Rights while aboard the plane.
A National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) personnel told Teves that he was arrested based on a warrant of arrest issued by a Manila court on September 2023 for 10 counts of murder, 12 counts of frustrated murder, and four counts of attempted murder.
The former Negros solon was also informed that another warrant of arrest was issued against him in 2024 by a Dumagute court for murder, illegal possession of explosives, illegal possession of firearms and Terrorism Financing Prevention and Suppression Act.
The former lawmaker denied the charges hurled against him.
