OPERATIVES of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) on Sunday confiscated P816 million worth of suspected shabu concealed in parcels from California, USA in an operation in Pasig City.
According to PDEA Director General Isagani Nerez, the confiscation of some 120 kilograms of shabu in Pasig City was in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to intensify the campaign against illegal drugs.
PDEA–National Capital Region Eastern District Office led the operation, in collaboration with the Southern District Office, PDEA-Airport Interdiction Unit K-9 Unit, Eastern Police District, District Drug Enforcement Unit, and Pasig City Police Station.
Nerez said the illegal drugs were hidden inside assorted chip boxes shipped from California and addressed to multiple consignees in Taguig, Pasig and Makati.
The seized illegal drugs were forwarded to the PDEA laboratory for confirmatory analysis.
“This interdiction success is a product of strong collaboration between PDEA and our law enforcement partners. Our presence in major airports, seaports, and cargo facilities is not just necessary. It is imperative,” the PDEA chief said.
Nerez urged the public to stay vigilant and report suspicious packages or drug-related activities to the authorities.
