THE Department of Justice (DOJ) on Wednesday said it is planning to use submersible remote robots to comb the bed of Taal Lake to search for the missing cockfight aficionados.
This after a whistleblower alleged that the bodies of the missing “sabungeros” were dumped in Taal Lake in Batangas.
Justice Secretary Jesus Remulla, in a television interview, said he has instructed his staff memers to draft a letter to the Japanese government and to ask for the remote operating vehicles or ROVs to map the lake bed.
The DOJ chief said the revelations of alias “Totoy” seem to be credible and presently being evaluated by police.
“Itong 34, eto lang ang talagang hinanap ng mga pamilya at tuluy-tuloy na naghahanap sila kaya nagkaroon talaga ng interes ang estado rito . Hindi pwede aregluhin ang ganoong kaso, mass murder ‘to,” Remulla said.
He said Totoy’s allegations that there are more than 100 bodies dumped in the lake is a case of impunity.
Remulla stated the need to pursue the case to give justice to the victims and their families.
