THE Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday confirmed that some of the bones recovered by Coast Guard divers at the Taal Lake were from human body.
PNP chief Gen. Nicolas D. Torre III said the recovered bones will be cross-matched with the DNA samples of the relatives of the missing “sabungeros.”
Torre said some of the remains recovered by the Coast Guard have been transported to the PNP Forensic Group from Batangas.
He added that he has also instructed the PNP-FG offices in Region 4-A and Batangas to move to Taal Lake to help the processing of any more remains to be recovered by divers in the lake.
The country’s top cop admitted that the remains recovered appeared to be a mixture of both human and animal remains.
“Alam n’yo naman na farming area ang Taal. May narecover na animal remains, may human remains kaya kasama sa processing ‘yung pagdi-differentiate,” he said.
Since last Friday, five sacks containing suspicious objects were recovered from the lake by Coast Guard divers.
The search is being conducted amid claims by whistleblower Julie “Dondon” Patidongan, alias “Totoy” that more than 100 people were killed and dumped in the lake after being accused of match fixing and double-crossing.
