A TRUCK driver on Sunday died while six of his passengers were injured when the truck they were riding turned turtle after hitting a tree on North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) near Bgy. Acli in Mexico, Pampanga.
Pampanga police director Col. Eugene M. Marcelo identified the fatality as truck driver Robert Par, 48, of Purok 6, Bgy. Panipuan, San Fernando City.
Marcelo said the injured were construction worker Jay Cortez Guinto, 31, of Panipuan, Mexico, Pampanga; landscapers Marvin Isedara Dechavez, 38, of Bgy. Panipuan, Mexico, Pampanga; James Rio Florido, 20, of Bgy. Baliti, San Fernando City; Erick Santiago Basquena, 29, of Bgy. Baliti; Reymart Aguillon, 29, of Bgy. Panipuan, Mexico; and Joey Lope Par, 25, of Bgy. Panipuan.
The truck was traveling towards the south direction on NLEX near Mexico, Pampanga when the driver suddenly applied its breaks to avoid colliding with a slow-moving car in front.
The impact caused the vehicle to hit a tree on the roadside causing the vehicle to topple over.
Responding members of the Lifeline ambulance of the NLEX and CSTEX rushed the victims to Jose B. Lingad General Memorial Hospital in San Fernando City, where the driver was declared dead on arrival.
