TWO children on Saturday drowned while swimming in a river in Bgy. Sindol, San Felipe, Zambales.
The victims were aged 7 and 9, both residents of Sitio Tektek, Purok 6, Bgy. Sindol, said a report to Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) director Brig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio Peñones Jr..
An investigation showed the two kids asked permission from their grandmother to go swimming in a river near their house.
However, the duo failed to return home prompting their parents to look for them.
A neighbor of the victims sought help from Raymond de Jesus, head of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) in San Felipe, and immediately, a search and rescue operation was launched.
Around 8 p.m. on the same day, the MDRRMO personnel found the victims under the river.
The two kids were rushed to the San Felipe Health Unit, where they were declared dead upon arrival.
