MALACAÑANG on Friday said President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and all members of his Cabinet are willing to undergo a lifestyle check.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro issued the statement following Sen. Risa Hontiveros’ challenged to the President to set an example by subjecting himself to a lifestyle check that he has ordered for all government officials.
According to Castro, President Marcos was even open to disclosing his Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN).
Under the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards of Public Officials and Employees, government officials are required to submit their SALNs.
Scrutiny of SALNs may lead to the discovery of ill-gotten or unexplained wealth.
“All members of the Executive are ready for a lifestyle check, including the President,” she said during a press briefing.
The President earlier ordered a lifestyle check on all government officials as part of its probe into anomalous flood control projects.
Meawhile, netizens slammed the children of big-time contractors and government officials who displayed their lavish lifestyle online.
The display of wealth fueled public speculation that their lifestyles were allegedly funded by taxpayers’ money.
