SAN FERNANDO CITY, Pampanga — An anti-illegal gambling operation conducted by operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) on Wednesday has resulted in the arrest of 11 individuals in Bulaon Resettlement, Bgy. Potrero, this city.
The entrapment, carried out under “Oplan Roulette” by the CIDG Pampanga Provincial Field Unit (PFU), with the support of the San Fernando City police, led to the arrest of alias “Senyor,” 62, the alleged operator/financier; alias “Mali,” 39; alias “Gui,” 37; and bettors Kimpoy, 36; Robin, 63; Abel, 43; Randa, 64; Alas, 22; Gelo, 33; Cruz, 51; and Tua, 53.
According to CIDG Regional Field Unit 3 chief Col. Grant A. Gollod, the suspects were caught in the act of operating and betting on “monte,” a card game considered illegal under Presidential Decree 1602 as amended by Republic Act 9287.
Seized during the operation were six decks of playing cards, bet money amounting to P78,250 in various denominations, a ledger, and a ballpen.
The arrested suspects were brought to the CIDG Pampanga Provincial Field Unit while a criminal complaint is being prepared against them.
