RESCUE teams are racing against time to find people still missing after a landslide at a landfill site in Cebu City.
Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival on Saturday said that signs of life had been detected at the collapsed garbage site in Cebu City.
Initial reports showed four people have been confirmed dead while over 30 others are still missing.
Officials said the privately-owned Binaliw landfill collapsed on Thursday while 110 workers were on site.
Police personnel were already mobilized to help in the ongoing search-and-rescue operations for victims of the landslide.
Acting Philippine National Police chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. directed Police Regional Office 7 director Brig. Gen. Redrico A. Maranan to prioritize life-saving operations and to provide manpower, security, and logistical support.
He also ordered the putting up of police assistance desks and perimeter control to support other agencies on the ground, which include personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection, the Armed Forces, local government teams and volunteers.
The top cop also ordered an investigation into the garbage collapse.
