PRESIDENT Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Friday spearheaded the launch of the Trabaho at Negosyo program, an initiative designed to empower micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) and expand employment opportunities for Filipinos across the country.
The event brought together entrepreneurs, job seekers, government agencies, and private sector partners, creating a platform that connects aspiring workers with potential employers and supports business owners through livelihood and enterprise development programs.
In his speech, the President recognized the humble beginnings of many Filipino entrepreneurs.
“Marami sa mga kababayan natin na nagsimula sa maliit na pangarap—isang food cart sa kanto, isang puwesto sa bazaar, isang online store na pinapatakbo na nagsimula lamang sa kanilang mga bahay,” President Marcos added.
The President also acknowledged the challenges small businesses face in sustaining and expanding their operations, noting that these hurdles prompted the government to launch initiatives to strengthen grassroots economic participation by promoting job creation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable livelihood opportunities.
“Ngunit, hindi madali ang pagsimula at pagpapalago ng isang negosyo. Maraming MSME ang nahaharap sa iba’t ibang hamon: Kakulangan ng puhunan, limitadong access sa mamimili, access to market, mabilis na pagbabago ng ekonomiya at ng teknolohiya,” President Marcos noted.
The President said many Filipinos continue to struggle to find jobs that match their skills and educational background.
President Marcos noted that industries are rapidly evolving due to advances in digital technology and artificial intelligence.
“Industries are being reshaped by digital technology and artificial intelligence or AI. Traditional jobs are transforming. The skills that were once optional, now they are essential,” the President noted.
President Marcos expressed confidence that Filipinos can adapt and succeed in a rapidly changing global economy, and encouraged workers and entrepreneurs to continuously improve their skills and embrace technological innovations.
The Trabaho at Negosyo program, organized by Go Negosyo, features learning sessions with industry experts and thought leaders on business development.
The event also includes a job fair that connects job seekers with employers across various sectors.
Government agencies such as the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR)are providing one-stop services and pre-employment assistance.
The President said the government will continue strengthening skills training, employment programs, and support services to help Filipinos secure jobs and grow their businesses.
