CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga — Police on Wednesday arrested three men in a gun buy-bust operation in Bgy. Lepa, Malasiqui, Pangasinan.
Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) director Brig. Gen. Jess Mendez said the suspects were nabbed by elements of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 3 (RMFB3) led by its Intelligence Section, with support from the Investigation Section, Tactical Support Company, and the 304th Maneuver Company, in coordination with the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office, the 105th Maneuver Company of RMFB1, and the Malasiqui police.
Authorities said the suspects failed to present documents proving lawful ownership or possession of the firearms, resulting in their arrest.
Seized were several firearms and ammunition, including an M16A1 Colt rifle with a defaced serial number, a Carbine M2 caliber .30 rifle, a caliber .380 LLAMA pistol, and a Remington 1911 pistol, multiple magazines and live ammunition.
Also confiscated were two boxes containing 100 rounds of 9mm ammunition, and the boodle and marked money.
“This successful operation demonstrates our continuing campaign against the proliferation of loose firearms that may be used in the commission of crimes,” Mendez said.
“In line with the PNP focused agenda of our chief PNP, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., we will continue to strengthen intelligence-driven operations and inter-agency coordination to ensure the safety and security of our communities,” he added.
Mendez said PRO3 remains committed to enforcing the law and preventing illegal firearms from fueling criminal activities while delivering responsive and professional police service to the public.
Charges for violation of Republic Act 1059 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act were filed against the arrested suspects.
