PRESIDENT Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. extended his condolences and sympathies to the family of the 29-year-old Filipina who was killed in a missile attack in Haifa, Israel on Sunday night amid the ongoing Middle East conflict.
“Nakikiramay tayo sa pamilya ng ating kababayang nasawi sa naganap na missile attack sa Haifa, Israel. Kasama nating nagluluksa ang kanyang pamilya sa gitna ng isang trahedyang hindi dapat maranasan ninuman,” President Marcos said in a social media post on Tuesday.
President Marcos has directed concerned government agencies to provide “full assistance” to the bereaved family and ensure the “immediate repatriation” of the victim’s remains.
“Nakikiisa ang buong sambayanan sa kanilang pagdadalamhati. Nawa’y matagpuan nila ang lakas at kapanatagan sa gitna ng trahedyang ito,” the President said.
The President likewise assured that the Philippine Embassy in Israel stands ready to provide all necessary aid and that the government continues to monitor the situation, noting that the safety and welfare of Filipinos in conflict areas remains a top priority.
“Nakaantabay ang ating Embahada upang maibigay ang lahat ng kinakailangang tulong. Patuloy nating binabantayan ang sitwasyon sa rehiyon. Ang kaligtasan ng bawat Pilipino ang ating pangunahing prayoridad,” the Chief Executive said.
To date, thousands of Filipinos from the Middle East have been repatriated through the government’s intensified efforts.
Aside from repatriation efforts, the government, through the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) spearheaded the Bayanihan Para Sa Balikbayang Manggagawa: A National Reintegration Network (NRN) Fair and Job Fair in Quezon City on Monday, aimed at providing support to affected overseas Filipino workers (OFW) and their families.
According to DMW, the move follows President Marcos’ order to ensure every OFW-repatriate can rebuild their lives productively with their families, with no Filipino neglected or left behind.
