OPERATIVES of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) on Thursday smashed two STL bookies and arrested two operators of illegal numbers game in Camiling, Tarlac.
CIDG Regional Field Unit 3 chief Grant Gollod said the operations were carried out under “Oplan Bolilyo/Roulette,” in coordination with the CIDG Tarlac Provincial Field Unit headed by Lt. Col. Arvin Hosmillo, and the Camiling police.
Gollod said the first operation was conducted on Luna Street in Bgy. Poblacion C, resulting in the arrest of alias “Raggie,” 46, a resident of Bgy. Pao 3rd, Camiling, Tarlac.
Alias “Raggie” was caught engaging in illegal numbers game operations locally known as “STL bookies.”
An investigation showed that the suspect was an authorized STL representative but allegedly used his authority as a front for illegal lotteries and bookie operations for unauthorized numbers games using gambling paraphernalia not sanctioned by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), in violation of Presidential Decree 1602 as amended by Republic Act 9287.
Seized from the suspect were a marked P100 bill, a bet receipt, a black ballpen, used and unused “papelitos,” a bundle of duplicate papelitos, a winning combinations record, and bet collections amounting to P4,126.
Another operation conducted on Romulo St., Bgy. Poblacion G led to the arrest of alias “Gie,” 51, also for alleged involvement in STL bookies operations.
Police said the suspect was an authorized STL representative allegedly engaged in illegal betting activities using unauthorized gambling materials and collecting bets not sanctioned by the PCSO.
Confiscated were a marked P100 bill, a bet receipt, a PCSO bet ticket pad, two pads of papelitos, a winning number record list, a clipboard, a black ballpen, and P2,105 in bet money.
Gollod said both operations stemmed from reports of concerned citizens regarding the proliferation of STL bookies activities in the area.
The two suspects were brought to the CIDG Tarlac PFU office for documentation and proper disposition.
