BIÑAN CITY CELEBRATES ‘1580’

BIÑAN City in Laguna on Sunday commenced its three day celebration dubbed “Araw ng Biñan, Isang Biñan 1580,”  a special tribute to Biñan’s 15th Cityhood Anniversary (February 2), 80th Liberation Day (February 3), and 278th Founding Commemoration (February 4)..

Thousands Biñanenses joined last Sunday’s event that marked the city’s 15 years since its founding.

Various sectors and government offices also participated in the People’s Parade followed by the inauguration of the new city projects, including the the elevated parking behind Alberto Mansion and the Biñan Center for Performing Arts (BCPA) which is part of the Biñan Cultural Center Complex.

Mayor Arman Dimaguila said the unity among local officials played a significant role in achieving cityhood for Biñan, ensuring continuous progress in the years to come.

Present in the event were Biñan Lone District Rep. Len Alonte, who contributed to making cityhood a reality, Vice Mayor Gel Alonte, and other local government officials led by councilor Dada Reyes.

The three-day celebration includes a Thanksgiving Mass, the unveiling of the historical marker at the Biñan Center for Performing Arts (BCPA), the 1580 Marker thanksgiving dinner, Gabi ng Tagumpay and a cultural night.

According to Dimaguila, Biñan continues to make history and promote the arts, culture, and local talent.

Gracing the event was national artist for music Maestro Ryan Cayabyab, who expressed strong support for the city’s mission to enrich Biñan’s culture and nurture the talents of young Biñanenses.

Dimaguila said the BCPA reflects the city’s deep appreciation for history, culture, and the arts, ensuring that these legacies are passed on to future generations.

“This place will further develop the skills of Biñan’s people, especially the youth. Here, visitors from outside Biñan will witness the talents of our city. This venue will host mini-concerts and other events,” the mayor said.

The Biñan Metropolitan Chorus also showcased their vocal talents in honor of Cayabyab’s contributions to the music industry.

The city government has declared August 7, 2024 to August 7, 2025 as Biñan Theater Arts Year, showing its full support for the performing arts.

Meanwhile in a press conference at the BCPA on Sunday, aside from the construction of the state-of-the art BCPA, Dimaguila also reported his administration’s impressive projects or the “Serbisyong Arman,” including the Biñan City Hospital, the Super Health Center, the PUP Dalampasigan, the Biñan Jail Facility, and the Biñan Central Square.

He said the Biñan Central Square will house the one-stop-shop gov’t satellite offices, making it easy for the city residents to process any government documents.

“Sa atin pong Biñan Central Square matatagpuan ang one-stop-shop ng gov’t offices like the BIR (Bureau of Internal Revenue), SSS (Social Security System, and PhilHealth (Philippine Health Insurance Corporation,” the mayor said.

Vice Mayor Alonte likewise reported the construction of some 4,000 houses for qualified city government employees, including teachers, and low-income families.

“Priority din po natin sa housing project ‘yung mga nasa laylayan, ‘yung mga walang kakayahan na makabili ng bahay,” Dimaguila concluded.
