A 38-YEAR-OLD man on Saturday set his house on fire that killed an elderly woman in Bulacan.
In a report to Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) director Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo, Bulacan police acting director Col. Franklin Estoro identified the suspect as alias “Rico,” of Sitio Panaklayan, Bgy. Muzon South, City of San Jose Del Monte (SJDM).
The victim was Rosalina Neglerio, 85, a neighbor of Rico.
The old woman’s daughter told probers that last Saturday, a witness saw the suspect breaking several bottles of varnish then poured them in and outside his house before setting it on fire.
As a result, the victim’s house, which was made of light materials, also caught fire.
Members of the SJDM City Bureau of Fire Protection responded to the blaze.
A fire out was declared around 1:39 a.m. on Sunday.
Personnel of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) conducted a clearing operation and found the burned body of the victim on the floor of her bedroom.
The suspect was arrested in a follow-up operation.
