A 31-YEAR-OLD woman and her three children died in a house fire in Sta. Maria, Bulacan
A belated reports said aside from the mother, her kids aged 1, 3, and 6, lost their lives in the blaze.
The fire broke out in the victims’ home in Bgy. San Vicente, Sta. Maria, Bulacan.
According to neighbors, they saw smoke coming out of the victims’ house. They immediately responded and destroyed the gate to rescue the children inside.
An investigation showed the mother, who was reportedly suffering from severe depression, allegedly set her kids on fire leading to their deaths.
Based on a neighbor’s account, before the woman’s eldest son died, he managed to say that their mother doused them with paint thinner before setting them ablaze.
The 1-year-old boy died on the spot while the mother and her two other children succumbed to burnt injuries at the hospital.
Responding firefighters found at the crime scene a match and wo bottles of paint thinner.
Village officials told probers that prior to the tragic incident, the woman went to the barangay hall and filed a blotter, citing marital problems. They were shocked when the following day they learned of the dreadful event.
The woman’s husband was in Batangas when the incident happened.
