CAMP BRIG. GEN. VICENTE LIM, Calamba City, Laguna – Joint operatives on Tuesday arrested a man and his son accused of selling loose firearms in Antipolo City, Rizal.
Criminal Investigation and Detection Group 4A chief Col. Jacinto Malinao Jr. identified the arrested suspects as Cesar Valdez, 68, and his son Zeus, 43, both residents of Sitio, Calumpang, Bgy. San Jose, Antipolo City, Rizal.
Seized from the suspects were 13 assorted firearms and hundred rounds of ammunition for different caliber of guns.
Agents of the CIDG Rizal Provincial Field Unit, along with the 404th Army Materiel Command, Regional Mobile Force Battalion – Police Regional Office 4A, 22Special Action Company-2Special Action Battalion Philippine National Police-Special Action Force and the Antipolo City police arrested Valdez and his son based on a search warrant issued by Hon. Agripino R. Bravo, Executive Judge, RTC, Fourth Judicial Region, Lucena City on April 15, 2024 for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Malinao said the arrest of the two was part of their “Oplan Paglalansag Omega” campaign and in compliance with the chief PNPs “Ang Gusto ng Pulis, Ligtas Kayo,” promise to the community.
According to Malinao, the arrested suspects are operating an unlicensed gunsmith and illegally keeping and selling unlicensed guns.
Malinao lauded the relentless effort of the CIDG Rizal headed by its provincial officer Maj. Leopoldo Cajipe Jr. which led to the arrest of the suspects.
The CIDG regional chief said the arrest of the alleged gun dealers and the confiscation of the 13 loose firearms will contribute to crime prevention and crime solution in Rizal province and its nearby provinces, and in Metro Manila.
The arrested father and his son and the seized evidence were brought to the CIDG-Rizal Provincial Field Unit for documentation and proper disposition.
