AUTHORITIES on Saturday arrested a janitor who allegedly set a school on fire in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.
Nabbed was Rico Cabales, 58, of San Julio Subdivision, Bgy. 2, San Carlos City.
Cabales allegedly admitted to burning the school but not the house of the mayor.
Destroyed in the fire was Daisy’s ABC School and the houses of San Carlos City Mayor Renato Gustilo and his grandfather at Ylagan Street in San Carlos City.
The incident happened on Friday.
The suspect reportedly got disgruntled after losing his job.
Police said Cabales, a known binge-drinker, was caught on CCTV setting the school on fire.
The janitor allegedly confessed to the crime because he was angry at the school’s principal for terminating his services effective last Saturday.
Investigators said Cabales admitted he was drunk when he used a lit cigarette and a gallon of gasoline to start the fire.
The suspect worked for the school for only four months.
Cabales is now detained at the San Carlos City Police Station facing arson charges.
