STATE OF CALAMITY DECLARED IN CAVITE CITY

CAVITE City was placed under a state of calamity following a massive fire that hit two barangays in the city and rendered thousands of families homeless last Sunday.

The City Council presided over by Councilor Marriam Pinzon and attended by members of the City Council approved Resolution 2024-094 – A , declaring a state of calamity in the City of Cavite after a fire that hit barangays 5 and 7.

The declaration was based on the recommendation of Mayor Denver Chua and the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (LDRRMC).

National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) Memorandum Order 60-2019 states that if there are two or more barangays affected by the disaster, the Municipal or City Mayor may recommend the placing of areas under a state of calamity.

Following the declaration of a state of calamity, the local government unit may use the Quick Response Fund (QRF) to help the fire-hit families who are still in evacuation centers.

Around 3,000 individuals or 900 families are seeking shelter at the Dalahican Elementary School and Sta. Cruz Elementary School. 

The local government unit and the offices of  Cavite 1^st  district Rep. Jolo Revilla and Agimat Partylist Rep. Bryan Revilla are providing assistance to the fire-affected families.
