ARMED men on Friday killed in an ambush the vice mayor of South Upi, Maguindanao del Sur and his aide.
Slain was Vice Mayor Roldan Benito and his bodyguard identified only as “Marcos.”
The vice mayor’s wife, their son, and another aide, were wounded in the attack.
Investigation showed the victims were traveling in a pick-up truck when waylaid by the suspects in Bgy. Pandan in South Upi.
Barangay Pandan is the homeplace of the victims, where Analyn, the vice mayor’s wife, is the village chair.
Witnesses rushed the victims to the hospital, where the vice mayor and his aide were declared dead on arrival.
Police are pursuing the gunmen.
