CRIMINAL Investigation and Detection (CIDG) – Tarlac chief Lt. Col. Jerrold Jake Manguerra received an award for his role in solving the murder case of Kapampangan beauty queen Geneva Lopez and her Israeli fiancé Yitshak Cohen.
Manguerra, a native of Pampanga who graduated from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia, USA in 2019, was awarded the “Medalya ng Kadakilaan.”
CIDG director Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III gave the award to Manguerra for leading the investigation and operation that solved the high-profile double murder case.
Manguerra is a graduate of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) Class 2006.
It could be recalled that Lopez and her Israeli boyfriend were reported missing on June 22.
On July 6, the decomposing bodies of the duo were discovered in Bgy. Sta. Lucia, Capas, Tarlac.
Both victims sustained gunshot wounds, according to operatives of the Scene of the Crime Office (SOCO).
Five people, including two former police officers, were charged with two counts of murder before the Department of Justice (DOJ) last September over the death of Lopez and Cohen.
