TWO witnesses in the case of missing beauty queen-teacher Catherine Camilon on Tuesday surfaced and gave solid lead to the police.
According to Criminal Investigation and Detection Group 4A Regional chief Col. Jacinto “Jac” Malinao Jr., the two appeared at their office and provided investigators with statements concerning the disappearance of the Miss Grand Philippines bet.
Malinao, who is leading the investigation, said the witnesses have personal knowledge in the disappearance of Camilon and gave probers vital information about the case.
“We are conducting backtracking investigation with the help of two video footages from the close circuit television camera that could help in the investigation,” said Malinao.
Malinao added that to date there is still no “physical proof” that Camilon is dead.
He said they are eyeing two or more “persons of interests” in the case.
“We’re trying to identify with the help of evidence the people or persons who may be involved in Camilon’s disappearance,” said Malinao.
Meanwhile, CIDG Director Maj. Gen. Romeo Caramat Jr., in a media interview on Tuesday night, said the two witnesses who came forward saw Camilon with blood all over her head inside a car.
The two witnesses said that on the night of October 12, they spotted three men transferring a “bloodied” woman from one car to another. The duo identified the woman as Camilon, who was last seen on October 12.
“Allegedly, huminto sila sa Sta. Catalina Subdivision, ‘yung place of incident, nakita nila na may binubuhat na babae, nakita nila na duguan sa ulo inililipat sa isang sasakyan,” Caramat said.
Sta. Catalina Subdivision is located in Bauan town in Batangas.
“At first hindi nila alam na ‘yan ‘yung beauty queen, but when they saw sa mga social media, they realize na ‘yan ‘yung beauty queen na nawawala. So, they appeared to our office and gave they sworn statement regarding what they saw,” he added.
The witnesses said one of the suspects pionted a gun at them. For fear for their life, the duo immediately left the place.
In a rogues’ gallery, the witnesses were able to identify one of the suspects, who, according to police, is related to a police officer considered to be one of the persons of interest in the case.
