A BOMB threat on Tuesday rocked the main campus of the Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) in Cabanatuan City.
All students, personnel, and faculty members were ordered to immediately vacate the premises, including other NEUST off-campuses in the province, due to the bomb scare.
Newly-installed NEUST president Dr. Rhodora R. Jugo issued the order as anti-bomb police squads searched the area and conducted paneling operations.
No bomb or any improvised explosive device was found.
The university administration office learned that the hoax bomb threat originated from an email sent by “BOMBA Attack Squad.”
Due to the bomb threat, the scheduled “Feb-ibig event” dubbed “Hearts Aglow, Love Overflow” at the NEUST off-campus in San Leonardo was cancelled.
“It is with great regret that we announce the cancellation of the Feb-ibig event, “Hearts Aglow, Love Overflow.” The safety and well-being of our students, faculties and staff are the priority, and we cannot proceed with the event under such circumstances,” a Facebook post stated.
The post added: “Furthermore, we will be moving to an online and modular class between February 14 and 15, 2024. This adjustment aims to prioritize the safety and security of all students while ensuring continued educational opportunities in a secure environment.”
