A HUNTER on Tuesday died after he was accidentally shot by his friend while they were hunting a wild boar in Mt. Kapigpiglatan in San Narciso, Zambales.
A report to Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr.by San Narciso police chief Maj. Ronaldo Valenzuela identified the victim as Renie Novilla, 36.
The suspect was Novilla’s friend, Edward Foronda, 54.
Novilla and Foronda are both residents of Purok 1 in Bgy. Omaya, San Narciso.
An investigation showed that the victim and the suspect, along with their friends, were constructing a trail in the area when they decided to go hunting for wild boar.
Foronda, who was armed with a 12-gauge shotgun, went ahead and hid in the bushes to wait for a wild boar.
When the suspect thought he saw a running wild boar, he fired a shot, hitting Novilla, who died on the spot.
Responding lawmen arrested the suspect and confiscated the shotgun.
A case for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide is being readied for filing in court against the suspect.
