PRESIDENT Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. appointed lawyer Jose Moises Salonga as the new Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) administrator replacing Homer Revil.
The appointment was made on February 19.
Salonga graduated from Ateneo de Manila University in 1999 with a degree in Economics. He earned his law degree from the same university in 2003.
He took Master in Public Safety Administration in Philippine Public Safety College, graduating in 2017.
Salonga served in the Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force of the Philippine National Police, the National Power Corp., Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP), First Farmers’ Rural Bank of Batangas Inc., Philippine Associated Smelting and Refining Corp., Office of the Executive Secretary, and PNOC-Renewable Corp.
He also worked for the First Cabanatuan Renewable Ventures Inc., Emergence Management and Consulting Corp., and the local government of Quezon City.
Salonga will take over the operations of the LWUA, a government-owned and controlled corporation (GOCC) with a specialized lending function mandated by law to promote and oversee the development of water supply systems in provincial cities and municipalities outside of Metro Manila.
It was created through Presidential Decree No. 198, also known as “The Provincial Water Utilities Act of 1973,” which was signed into law on May 25, 1973.
The law also provided for the establishment of Water Districts in cities and municipalities in the provinces.
