A MEMBER of the Philippine Marines and two other riders on Sunday night were killed when their motorcycles were struck by a passenger jeepney in Bgy. Sapang 1, Ternate, Cavite.
Town police chief Maj. Marlon Escalante identified the fatalities as “Jun,” a 38-year-old member of the Force Reconnaissance Group, Marine Base Gregorio Lim in Ternate Cavite; an alias “Teng,” 40, of Bgy. Sapang 1; and alias “Gabriel,” 54, of Bgy. Pinagsanhan B Maragondon Cavite.
The three were all riders of the two motorcycles.
At least 15 passengers of the jeep were also injured.
Initial investigation showed the passenger jeep driven by alias “Justin,” 57, of Bgy. Hugo Perez, Trece Martires City, Cavite came from a beach outing and was on its way to Manila when upon reaching Bgy. Sapang 1, the driver overtook another vehicle and struck the motorbikes coming from the opposite direction at 6:45 p.m. on Sunday.
The victims were run over by the jeep.
Responding lawmen arrested the jeepney driver who claimed he lost control of his jeep that resulted in the crash.
