CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga — The swift action of the police on Saturday led to the arrest of a Nigerian national allegedly involved in a “basag-kotse” incident in Bataan.
Based on a report submitted to Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr., the Pampanga police said an 82-year-old resident of Bgy. Tuyo, Balanga City, Bataan parked his Metallic Gray Toyota Hilux in front of his residence.
When the victim returned to his car after 30 minutes, he discovered that the rear-left passenger door’s window was shattered and his bag containing assorted identification cards and cash amounting to P5,000 was missing.
The octogenarian immediately sought help from the Balanga police to identify from the CCTV footage the suspects, who boarded on a getaway motorcycle.
A pursuit operation was launched to arrest the perpetrators.
The pursuit led authorities on Roman Highway, Bgy. Gugo, Samal, Bataan, where one of the primary suspects, a 28-year-old Nigerian national and a resident of the City of San Fernando, Pampanga, was arrested.
However, the accomplice, also a Nigerian national, managed to escape.
Confiscated from the suspect were the getaway motorcycle, the victim’s ATM card, black Bugatti backpack, and assorted receipts.
Hidalgo commended his men for the swift arrest of the suspect.
