AN eight-year-old boy on Tuesday drowned while swimming in a river in Pampanga.
The Pampanga police reported to Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr. that the victim was Jameel Manaloto, a student residing in Purok 3, Bgy. Remedios, Lubao, Pampanga.
Manaloto and his playmate, Lorie Jane Bustos, 11, went to Purok 7 in Bgy. Remedios to swim in the river.
While swimming, the victim was carried away by a strong water current.
Bustos tried to save him but he too started to drown.
Fisherman Mario Ocampo, 64, saw the two kids and rescued them.
The boys were rushed to the Escolastica Romero District Hospital, where Manaloto was declared dead upon arrival by attending doctors.
