JOINT operatives of the Philippine Drugs Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) arrested a woman and seized some 500 grams of shabu worth P3.4 million in an anti-illegal drugs operation at the Batangas port.
Nabbed was a 36-year-old woman, a resident of Naujan, Oriental Mindoro.
The drug interdiction operation led by the PDEA, Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Batangas, and Coast Guard K9 Field Operating Unit-Southern Tagalog (CG K9 FOU-STL) was conducted on April 10.
The joint operation was prompted by a report from a PDEA agent that a passenger of MV BB Coron was in possession of the illegal drugs.
The vessel was docked at the Batangas Port and was bound for Abra de Ilog Port in Occidental Mindoro.
According to the PDEA, a meticulous investigation and K9 paneling involving narcotics detection dogs from the PCG and PDEA-Batangas was immediately conducted upon receipt of the report.
Both showed indication of the presence of illegal drugs in a red paper bag possessed by the suspect.
The woman and the confiscated evidence were brought to the custody of the PDEA-Batangas Provincial Office for further investigation.
Charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 were filed against the arrested suspect.
