A RETIRED cop on Wednesday was shot dead by one of the two suspects who tried to rob his store in Taytay, Rizal.
In a report to Police Regional Office 4A (Calabarzon) Director Brig. Gen. Paul Kenneth Lucas, the Taytay Police Station identified the victim as Gary Boco, of Bgy. Sta. Ana in Taytay.
Boco died while being rushed to Taytay Emergency Hospital.
An investigation showed the foiled robbery occurred at 2:50 p.m. on Wednesday.
The victim was tending his store when the suspects arrived on a motorcycle.
The backrider, who was armed with a gun, alighted from the motorbike and declared a holdup.
Boco resisted and tried to grab the gun but was shot by the suspect several times.
The suspects fled on foot towards Barkadahan Bridge Floodway,leaving behind the pistol and a black Yamaha Mio motorcycle with an improvised plate number.
An investigation is ongoing to identify and arrest the suspects.
