SUPREME Court Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo has ordered an investigation into an alleged bribery case involving a judge in Pasay City.
The Chief Justice directed Court Administrator Raul B. Villanueva to look into the matter.
Gesmundo issued the order after receiving a preliminary report from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) regarding the arrest of an employee of a Regional Trial Court in Pasay City, for accepting P6-million from a litigant in exchange for a favorable judgment in a civil case.
Upon arrest, the employee allegedly said that the exchange was upon the instruction of the presiding judge.
Villanueva was directed by the Chief Justice to submit on Monday, May 27, 2024, a report and recommendation on the incident.
Meanwhile, the SC did not mention the name of the employee and the presiding judge.
