THE Bureau of Customs – Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC-NAIA), in collaboration with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG), on Thursday intercepted an outbound cargo containing shabu.
The illegal drugs were concealed and misdeclared as kitchen wall stickers.
Due to suspicious images detected by Customs x-ray officers, a physical examination was conducted by Customs examiners and found 217.9 grams of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride), with an estimated street value of P1.4 million.
The shipper and consignee are currently under investigation for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and Republic Act 10863 or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.
