A CHINESE national on Friday drowned while snorkeling at a resort in Morong, Bataan.
The Bataan police reported to Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr. that the victim was identified as Liang Jianjie, 26, a native of Shanxi, China.
Jianjie worked as I.T. manager of Suniway Liwasang Darangen in CCP Complex, Pasay City.
Investigation showed Marvin Barabas and Ronald Allan San Juan, both lifeguards of Camayan Beach Resort in Subic Bay Freeport Zone located in Bgy. Mabayo in Morong were called by other guests to report about a man snorkeling at 25 meters below the shoreline and sunk by the underwater current.
The lifeguards immediately conducted an underwater search and found the victim.
A nurse on duty at the resort tried to revive the victim before rushing him to the Allied Care (ACE) Medical Center Baypointe at Subic Bay Freeport Zone, where Jianjie was declared dead upon arrival.
The Morong police are investigating the drowning incident.
