CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga — While continuous relief operations are being conducted after the onslaught of Typhoon “Carina,” Police Regional Office 3 is now keeping on its toes in providing assistance to teachers, parents and students as classes for school year 2024-2025 opened on Monday.
According to Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr., guidelines were already established in accordance with the “Ligtas Balik- Eskwela 2024,” a directive from the national headquarters that is being conducted annually.
Hidalgo said that nearly 1,000 police personnel were deployed in different provinces in the region to provide public safety and police visibility in schools, colleges, universities and its nearby areas, which are most likely to be the chosen target place of criminal elements.
Police Assistance Desks, manned by a team with a police commissioned officer as its leader, are established at schools and other learning institutions to preempt any problems and for speedy response in any eventuality.
The Central Luzon top cop directed all field officers to personally visit the different schools and coordinate with school officials in order to deter lawless elements from doing illegal activities such as holdup, pick-pocketing, snatching, drug pushing and even kidnapping of hapless students.
Police are also working hand-in-hand with the traffic auxiliaries for traffic control and direction wherein volume of students are travelling to and from the various schools in the different cities/provinces.
“Once again, I am calling for the cooperation of the public to prevent any crime in the community, especially in our learning institutions, by providing the authorities relevant and timely information through PRO3 hotlines 0998-5985330/ 0917- 5562597 and social media (facebook account: www.facebook.com/PRO3PIOCampOlivas),” Hidalgo said.
