THE total number of the ruling Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats party members in the House of Representatives is now at 103 as two more senior administration government officials have joined and sworn in by Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez.
The latest to join were Rep. Eric Go Yap of the lone district of Benguet, and the province’s governor, Melchor Diclas, who both pledged support to the country’s most dominant political party headed by the Speaker, who sits as party president.
Numerous local officials have also undertaken their oath before Speaker Romualdez led by Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna, Reps. Joel Chua of Manila’s third district, Ed Christopher Go of Isabela’s second district and former Marikina congressman Miro Quimbo.
Mrs. Soledad Go, wife of incumbent Baguio City Rep. Mark Go, also joined Lakas-CMD.
The Speaker, an administration stalwart who heads the 310-strong House of Representatives, said Lakas-CMD’s expanded membership means wider support in Congress for the administration of President Marcos Jr.
“Their leadership, experience, and commitment to serve our people greatly enhance our collective efforts to support the Agenda for Prosperity of President Marcos Jr. and his vision for Bagong Pilipinas,” Speaker Romualdez said.
The Speaker said he was happy to welcome his new party members.
“They share our principles and our aspirations for a better life for our people and a more progressive Philippines,” the Leyte first district lawmaker said.
