CAR-RIDING assassins on Sunday shot dead a barangay chairman inside a village hall in Arayat, Pampanga.
In a report to Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr., Pampanga police chief Col. Jay Damaandal identified the victim as Norberto Lumbang also known to his constituents as “Mel Lumbang,” 57, chairman of Bgy. Laquios in Arayat, Pampanga.
A concerned citizen informed the Arayat police about the shooting incident.
Initial probe showed the victim was inside the barangay hall in Bgy. Laquios when four suspects in a black Toyota Innova with plate no. NAU-2713 arrived.
Three of the suspects alighted from the vehicle and one of them, who was armed with a long firearm, entered the barangay hall and shot the victim, killing him on the spot.
The suspects fled after the shooting.
The Arayat police immediately requested a flash alarm for a dragnet operation to arrest the suspects.
