MARCOS FIRES TANSINGCO

BUREAU of Immigration (BI) Commissioner Norman Tansingco has been fired from his post, the Palace confirmed on Monday.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has approved the dismissal of Tansingco,  Presidential Communications Secretary Cesar Chavez csaid.

Chavez, however, did not disclose who will be taking over from Tansingco as BI chief.

Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla earlier bared that he had recommended to the President the sacking of Tansingco over the escape of dismissed Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo in July.

In late August, Marcos said “heads will roll” if people in his government were found to have helped Guo flee the country.

In an interview by mediamen,  Remulla said the President, and he agreed that Tansingco would be replaced.

“He will be replaced. If I were him, I’d just resign. He should resign,” he added.

Remulla said he recommended Tansingco’s replacement because he was not satisfied with his performance.

He said he stopped talking with Tansingco after Guo escaped the country.

The Justice Secretary said they lost trust and confidence in the BI chief.

Remulla also said he had raised concerns that working visas were being issued to fake corporations to bring in illegal gambling workers.

“I told him (Tansingco) to make sure these are canceled, but he never did anything,” Remulla said.
