HOUSE Secretary General Reginald Velasco on Thursday said that Cassandra Ong has been transferred to the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong City.
The documented representative of Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) Lucky South 99, was cited for contempt by the House Quad Committee probing POGO-linked crimes.
It was the second time Ong wa cited for contempt for allegedly lying about her school records.
The 24-year-old Ong was cited in contempt after she told lawmakers that she could not remember her educational background.
She said she could not recall the name of school where she enrolled for Alternative Learning System.
Abang Lingkod party-list Rep. Joseph Stephen Paduano, co-chair of the Quad Committee, questioned Ong’s claim of completing the ALS in 2016 or 2017, noting inconsistencies in her responses about where she attended the program.
During the heated exchange, Paduano expressed frustration over Ong’s inability to provide specific details about her schooling: “You’re lying, Ms. Cassandra Ong. Remember, previously, you were cited in contempt, and I will once again cite you in contempt for lying.”
Earlier, Ong denied involvement in POGO activities, saying she is only a 58% owner of Whirlwind Corporation, the firm which owns the land and leases part of the land to Lucky South 99.
