MANILA Mayor Honey Lacuna on Thursday announced that the monthly allowance of senior citizens in the city will be doubled from P500 to P1,000 starting January 2025.
Lacuna said the move aims to further support the elders of Manila.
Over 200,000 seniors in the city are set to receive a total of P3,000 each during the quarterly payout in March 2025.
The Manila mayor made the announcement after the fellowship night attended by 896 Manila barangay senior presidents in celebration of the international elderly week.
Lacuna assured Manileños that they are regularly cleaning the city senior’s masterlist.
According to the Manila mayor, the increase in senior citizen allowance is funded through City Ordinance 9075, which covers Manila’s budget for fiscal year 2025.
