A 16-YEAR-OLD student on Monday was found dead in a public school in Taguig City.
The victim, a Grade 10 male student, was discovered lifeless at the covered court of the school located in Bgy. South Signal.
The incident was reported to the Taguig City Police Sub-Station 6, which sent policemen to the school to conduct an investigation.
Responding lawmen immediately secured the area.
The Department of Education (DepEd) has extended its deepest condolences to the family and friends of the learner.
Following the incident, the DepEd promptly mobilized its mental health crisis response mechanisms.
Members of the Executive Committee (ExeCom) personally visited the school to closely monitor the situation and ensure that immediate support was readily provided to the school community.
“DepEd recognizes that this incident is a sensitive issue and underscores the importance of providing timely interventions for learners and teachers who may be experiencing mental health challenges, the DepEd, in a statement said.
“While DepEd will not provide specific details of the incident as respect to the grieving family of the learner, rest assured that the Department remains committed to strengthening and implementing mental health programs to ensure that our schools remain safe and supportive environments for our learners,” it added.
Meanwhile, the Office of Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano, together with local authorities, also extended the necessary assistance and support to those affected.
