KANLAON Volcano in Negros Island on Saturday morning spewed gray ash, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Phivolcs said the “ashing” event was observed at 11:49 a.m. to 12:02 p.m. Saturday.
It added that no detectable seismic or infrasound signals were recorded.
The events generated light-gray plumes that rose 500 meters above the crater before drifting south as recorded by the Canlaon City Observation Station IP Camera.
Based on the volcano bulletin, 31 volanic earthquakes occurred from 12 a.m. of November 1 to 12 a.m. of November 2.
The volcano released 6,993 tons of sulfur dioxide, said Phivolcs.
Alert Level 2 or an “increased unrest” remains over Kanlaon Volcano.
Phivolcs said sudden steam-driven or phreatic eruptions may occur in the volcano.
Entry into the four-kilometer radius Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) is strictly prohibited.
Pilots were advised not to fly close to Kanlaon Volcano as any eruption could endanger the aircraft.
