TWO women wanted for carnapping were arrested by operatives of the Highway Patrol Group (HPG) Calabarzon in separate operations in Cavite and in Tondo, Manila.
Regional Highway Patrol Unit 4A chief Col. Rommel Estolano identified the arrested suspects as Christine Melisse Galang, 24, a resident of B16, L22, Chico St., Bgy. Poblacion 11, GMA, Cavite; and Jinky Borromeo Gan. 49, of 114 Morgana Bldg, Multinational Village, Moonwalk, Parañaque City.
Galang and Gan were caught based on a warrant of arrest issued last October 10 by Judge Regina Paz Ramos-Chavez of the Parañaque City Regional Trial Court Branch 274 for violation of Republic Act 10883 or the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016.
The court set a P300,000 bail each for the temporary liberty of the accused.

On October 30, the Provincial Highway Patrol Team (PHPT) Cavite led by Maj. Gegeon Merza , with his men PCMS Jefferson Cabuloy, PCMS Erlan Demate, and PCpl. Angelo Fantone, conducted an operation in Bgy. Buhay Na Tubig, Imus City, Cavite which led to the arrest of Galang.
The following day, the PHPT-Cavite, in cooperation with the Manila police, launched a follow-up operation in Tondo, which resulted in the capture of Gan.
The arrested suspects were brought to the PHPT Cavite office for documentation and temporary detention pending the return of the warrant of arrest to the issuing court.
Estolano said the arrest of the duo was a result of the intensified anti-carnapping operations of the HPG under the leadership of Brig. Gen William M. Segun, in line with the chief PNP’s aggressive law enforcement operations against carnapping, highway robbery, and other forms of criminality along the highway.
