ACTRESS and comedienne Rufa Mae Quinto on Wednesday surrendered to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to face the charges of her alleged involvement in an investment scam.
This after a Pasay court issued a warrant for her arrest.
NBI agents met Quinto upon her arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) from San Francisco, California, with her family, at around 5 a.m. on Wednesday.

She was escorted to face an arrest warrant issued by the court.
The actress-comedienne is facing 14 counts of alleged violations of the Securities Regulation Code.
According to NAIA – NBI chief Jimmy De Leon, Quinto’s lawyer coordinated with the NBI for her voluntary surrender.
Quinto underwent a medico-legal examination before being brought to the Pasay court.
She is facing a case in relation to the issue of Dermacare, the same company involved in the arrest of actress-entrepreneur Neri Naig.
Quinto went to the NBI with her lawyer, Mary Louise Reyes, before being brought to the Pasay Regional Trial Court, where an arrest warrant for 14 counts of violating Section 8 of the Securities Regulation Code was issued.
The provision prohibits individuals from acting as brokers or associated persons unless registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
The actress earlier denied involvement in the alleged investment scam tied to Dermacare-Beyond Skin Care Solutions, claiming she was merely an endorser and did not engage in solicitation activities.
“She will face those charges. Mag-voluntary surrender siya and magpo-post po kami ng bail for that. She’s worried kasi hindi naman totoo ‘yung allegations kasi my client po is just a brand ambassador, a model-endorser,” Reyes said.
“Ni hindi sa kanya nakapagbayad ng downpayment, tapos ‘yung mga tseke po puro tumalbog. Lahat po ‘yan hawak naman po namin ‘yung ebidensya, ipe-present namin sa court,” the lawyer added.
