MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga – Some 50 women from various cooperatives in this city received a total of P1 million financial grants from the local government unit.
Mabalacat Mayor Crisostomo Garbo led the distribution of the grant assistance of P20,000 each to the beneficiaries.
The giving of financial aid was held at the mayor’s office.

Garbo expressed his support for the empowerment of women in the city, emphasizing the important role they play in economic development.
“Investing in our women is investing in our future. These grants are not just financial support, they are a step towards self-sufficiency and economic independence,” the mayor said during the distribution ceremony.
He said the financial aid aims to enhance the livelihood programs of the cooperatives, which vary from food production to retail and transport businesses.
Each recipient received a grant that will enable them to expand their operations, purchase necessary equipment, and improve their overall business strategies, said Garbo.
Jaycee Marucut, a coop officer in the city, emphasized the importance of supporting women-led initiatives.
“These grants are designed to uplift women in our city, providing them with the resources needed to thrive and contribute to the local economy. We are committed to strengthen the cooperative spirit among our kababayans,” Marucut said.
Meanwhile, the beneficiaries thanked Garbo for the initiative.
The distribution of financial grants aligns with the city government’s broader commitment to promoting gender equality and empowering marginalized sectors.
Garbo reiterated his administration’s dedication to supporting local businesses and enhancing the quality of life for all residents.
“Together, we can build a stronger, more resilient Mabalacat City,” the mayor said.
