INTERIOR Secretary Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla on Wednesday announced that joint operatives rescued a 14-year-old male Chinese student whose finger was cut off by his kidnappers.
The victim, a student of an international school in Taguig City, was abducted last February 20.
According to Remulla, the kidnappers left the student along the road in Parañaque City during a hot pursuit operation.
The PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG), in coordination with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), led the rescue operation.
The DILG chief said no ransom was paid but confimed that part of the boy’s finger was cut off.
The minor was safely recovered and immediately reunited with his father.
The victim is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.
Remulla assured the victim and his family that justice will be served.
He informed the family that the kidnappers have been identified and are being hunted by policemen.
The boy was kidnapped on February 20 with their family driver and reported missing the next day.
The driver was reportedly killed by the abductors.
Remulla added that a syndicate involved in the operations of a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) before was behind the kidnapping.
”We are definite na ang sindikato na nasa likod ng kidnapping ay former operators ng POGO din. We are definite na ang perpetrators ay ginamit ang kanilang former bodyguards na AWOL na ngayon sa serbisyo ng AFP at PNP,” Remulla said in a briefing at the Malacanan Palace.
He expressed belief that the abduction is money related.
The DILG chief ensured that the suspects swill be neutralized the soonest possible time.
