PHILIPPINE Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) president and CEO Dr. Edwin M. Mercado reminded members that PhilHealth has benefit package for heat-related illnesses.
Mercado said heat-related illnesses such as heat stroke, heat cramps, and heat exhaustion are covered by the healthcare coverage of the PhilHealth.
He issued the reminder amid the Department of Health (DOH) and the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) warning of dangerous heat indices as summer nears.
“Members and their dependents admitted to any PhilHealth-accredited health facilities due to heat stroke or heat exhaustion are entitled to a benefit package of P12,675,” Mercado said.
“At kung talaga pong heat fatigue o inatake na ang pasyente, mayroon na kahalong arrhythmia o ‘yung puso po ay medyo pumapalya, mayroon po tayong coverage until P18,135,” he added.
The PhilHealth official urged members and families to seek early intervention against heat-related conditions and to use the free Konsulta Package for consultations and symptom checks to mitigate potential severity.
Mercado advised PhilHealth members to be vigilant, stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, and seek immediate medical attention if they experience any symptoms.
