A MAGNITUDE 5.0 earthquake on Tuesday shook Calatagan in Batangas.
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), the epicenter of the tremor was located 22 kilometers southwest of Calatagan.
The quake that occurred at 5:25 p.m. Tuesday was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 133 kilometers.
It was felt at intensity 2 in Paluan, Mamburao and Sta. Cruz in Occidental Mindoro province.
It was also logged at instrumental intensity 2 in Mamburao and Calatagan; and instrumental intensity 1 in Abra De Ilog in Occidental Mindoro, Calapan City in Oriental Mindoro, Magallanes, Carmona and City of Tagaytay in Cavite province, and Abucay in Bataan province.
Phivolcs categorized a magnitude 5.0 earthquake as strong, but damage is not expected.
